Bad Night Long Day

Mom was not doing good last night and we thought it was going to happen at any time. Her breathing appeared to be getting painful but intermittent at about 1AM. We tried to encourage her and let her know it was all going to be alright, pass on and end the pain. We stayed with her until 3AM and she had not changed at all. Clara was there so we figured we could get some sleep. Went to bed and Clara woke us at 415AM She felt the pain had increased and should be managed, this was against moms wishes but we agreed. We called Hospice at 422AM. They said they dispatched the nurse. The nurses location was about 15-20 minutes from our location and she did not arrive until 530AM. We asked about pain control and she needed to due a health eval? Then she needed to call and get authorization to get the meds. She finally go authorization and was looking into where she was going to acquire them. She finally left at 550AM and arrived back at 630AM. What the HELL!!! Mom was now in even more pain and the duration she had to go through it was unnecessary! Hospice NEEDS to inform families that they do NOT have meds and it will take much longer during non business hours (8am-5pm). Needless to say we were ALL PISSED! The meds took hold in about 15 minutes. Moms breathing slowed and the pain was gone in about 20 minutes. We sat in the room with her and talked. Her breathing became broken with 4-10 second breaks and she finally passed at 815 am today. We spent the rest of the day with Hospice the funeral home. When we finished at the funeral home we dropped of Clara and went back to the house for the hospital equipment pickup guy. While he picked up the Hospital bed we packed up our stuff and her (our new) dog. We then headed over to my folks to spend the night and make up a game plan. The funeral is set for Thursday at 11 AM. I need to go relax and then get some sleep. Oh yea, I tried to cancel her cable and they stated I need poser of attorney. How lame is that? Give me a break.
