I am surprised how tired I am. I am headed to bed soon.
Month: June 2012
Not another FIRE!!!!
We went to Bastrop today and picked up many of the plans that survived. We arrived home about 2P and proceeded o plant them. As Susan came from our end of the house to Minolia's, when she noticed a fire. Yep, that's what I said a fire.
TALK ABOUT SHIT:ING BLUE CARPET TACKS!!! Today there was a grass or hay FIRE and it advanced on the property just like Bastrop back in September. We are not sure who or what started it, but it had me sweating bullets as it raced toward CR440. The fire department was called and were enroute, but that did not sooth me in any way. They were able to keep it on the east side of 440 and we are quite thankful for the road shorter grass and the fire fighters.
We will post some photos we took while the wind pushed the flames up 6 to 12 feet. The fire wall was quite impressive as I have not seen flames like that sine 1997 when we did controlled burns at Fort McCoy.
Glad it is all done and fire fighters have gone. Hopefully the hay will come back stronger since the nitrogen should be up.
Looking forward to a une entful evening.
Gate Completed
The gate is completed! I cut the last two strands of barb wire and tied them off. I placed the solar lights on the posts and operated the gate. I need to weld the lights in place, but at least it is complete.
I can see why most maintenance is done from October through April if at all possible!! It was only in the 70s at 7am, but the humidity was high! Not ideal working weather. 🙂
Plans
Spent much of the day updating floor plans. Also put together a who does what when building.
I looked up a few more items on the purchase list and documented where we are to get them from.
Lowe’s called and let us know the cabinets will be in on the 25th of June. WAY too early!!!
Sure am glad they will be holding them!!
Trash
Got up broke down cardboard and loaded the recyclables in the car. Then burnt the trash. Each task took about an hour. The humidity was high, but I was able to cool down and then take a shower before heading in to Round Rock. We wentto the recycling center first and then stopped at Home Depot. We picked out shower, bath and kitchen faucets. We also picked up the streach wrap to hold up the cardboard boxes that have been in the shop for over a year. The boxes are getting weak, but we had no idea we would not be in a house. ??? The wrap should do the trick. I will wrap it tomorrow or Sunday.
Did the Sam's shopping and arrived back home around 3:30P.
Organized some paperwork and cleaned off some room on the tablet before cutting up some of the meat. I will cut the rest up tomorrow.
Wears planning on going to Bastrop tomorrow for plants. We may pick up the pea gravel but I am thinking of grabbing plants and planning for a truck trip if needed.
Off to bed as tomorrow will be busy. The canoe looks like it was postponed again! We will get there eventually.
Night.
